Thanksgiving in California

Thanksgiving in California

by Jeremiah Harding

Are you thinking about having a Thanksgiving dinner this year with your extended family, maybe inviting friends?

Well, if you live in California, or one of the state’s mirroring what they’re doing, you might be in violation of their new “updated small gatherings guidance.” Dr. Mark Ghaly issued a statement on the California Public Health YouTube last Friday about California’s updated guidance on covid policy around Thanksgiving. And what’s in it is an absurd and anti-science attempt at fear-mongering people into accepting the government’s intrusion into the celebration.

After fearmongering for about five minutes regarding the amount of hospitalizations, cases, and deaths, in a presentation entitled, “11/13/2020: CHHS Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly Provides Update on COVID-19 in California,” and after about 5 minutes of dead air at the beginning of the presentation, they get to the category of activities they allege to be “high risk.”

In this list, they include “activities where it is difficult to mask the whole time, like eating or drinking, activities where you see people you haven’t seen recently like people from outside your household, activities where it is difficult to keep your distance, like multiple people at a small table, activities of a long duration, and activities that don’t allow for plenty of fresh air to circulate.”

You can see where this is going.

He also issued a travel advisory, claiming that this is not a travel ban or restriction, but simply an advisory. In this advisory, there’s yet more fear-mongering, stating that, “traveling or having others travel to your home could potentially cause an increase in transmission of covid-19.”

They “encourage Californians to stay close to home and avoid not essential travel to other states or countries.” They also say that, “people arriving in California from other states or countries should self-quarantine for 14 days. They should limit their interactions to their immediate household.” Basically, if you plan to have a normal Thanksgiving dinner, the state of California wants you to feel bad about it, and feel justified in snitching on your family, friends, and neighbors should they break this travel advisory, or should they go against any of this obvious fear-mongering.

And it gets worse.

In the section that sparked me wanting to write this piece, the guidance they give, which to me, just sounds like a threat if you don’t comply, they claim, “the safest gatherings remain those that happen at home with members of your own household”, and that they, “encourage Californians to gather virtually whenever possible,” and if they can’t do that, they should have their gathering outside!

That’s right.

The government of California, and probably the US government as a whole, wants to see you take your Thanksgiving to the metaverse, just in time for all these ads about meeting there instead of in-person. Just in time for a bunch of new restrictive policies, and just in time to get people nice and used to not seeing each other in person, as well as getting all of their commerce, community, and communication done contact-free!

You hear that?

If you’re one of the filthy heathens who decides to have an in-person gathering, rather than accept the new normal of everything being done virtually, you need to go outside, and not enjoy the warmth and comfort of your own home. You need to let your turkey get cold in the elements, and expose your family to various pests, because outside is the “Best For Health™” if you are going to gather. The fact that people don’t see this as automatically insane is hilarious to me. And the fact that comments are off on their video is an expected response to this tyrannical garbage.

But it actually gets worse.

He tells people to check their local public health websites for even more restrictions, because “not every area in California is experiencing covid in the same way,” and there may be specific restrictions on certain areas which are beyond the state’s already existing draconian measures which have progressively been getting worse and worse over the past year. He tells people to not only wear a mask to this family gathering, which is already onerous enough, but keep it on even when they’re eating and drinking, because it will reduce the spread of droplets through the air.

That’s right!

You have to wear your mask in between bites of food and drinks of drink. How insane is that? If this virus allegedly hangs around on surfaces, they want you to constantly touch your face, and your mask, and move the bacteria from surfaces to your face, as a way to combat this virus! Or, just go outside, like this stupid small dog you are. Remember, they see you as the small dog, being led around on a leash by doctors, which are being led around by the state. That’s what that Economist cover was supposed to signify, and it did a great job of doing just that.

He then fear-mongers about being in a small space, telling people to keep their distance, and spread things out, even utilizing other rooms in the house than the living room, in order to prevent people from being close to each other at all. Closeness is now verboten, and if you disagree, you’re probably a super spreader or something. Additionally, and perhaps worst, you’re to have no more than three households per celebration. The kinds of gatherings that we would have had when I was a kid are now banned.

We can’t have your aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancées, grandparents on both sides, and your own family in the same place. We can’t have you connecting and having authentic experiences, being close to each other’s energies, and being able to fully sense the other people in the room, because why don’t you just go on Facebook about it? Never mind that it’s much healthier to be in the presence of other people, and expose your immune system to pathogens. Never mind that a strong sense of community will lower your stress levels, which is good for your immune system.

Ignore all that, because the government of California says so.

Additionally, if you won’t go outside, and you have to be indoors being the inferior subhuman virus machine you are, you need to keep all your windows open, because if you won’t go outside, you might as well bring the outside in, no matter how cold it is. Also, you’re supposed to keep things short, and what that means in this case, is that you’re supposed to keep it to a maximum of 90 MINUTES. That’s right, if your gathering lasts longer than an hour and a half, you’re a monster, and probably responsible for some old person dying somewhere.

What’s the science behind this time limit? Oh. They don’t list that. You’re just supposed to assume that they Know Best™, and that this isn’t some sort of arbitrary, bullshit number they’re just handing you that you have to follow. Nah, that couldn’t be. They have to know everything, and you have to do what they say.

What’s funny is that he immediately goes into fear-mongering about numbers, stating that 75% of the deaths in California from coronavirus have been related to age, claiming those deaths were all in the “over 65” category. He then says that people need to take precautions to protect these people, as though they’re no longer thinking beings who can take risks for themselves, and maybe decide whether or not they think it’s worth the risk to go to a gathering, or maybe not even use masks, or not go outside, because they’ve lived a long life…and aren’t elders supposed to be wise?

Oh. I forgot. This is the new normal, where literally nobody can think for themselves, and we all must follow government mandates and strictures as the acolytes of the Build Back Better religion. So, if you say that maybe we shouldn’t be deciding things for other people, and they should be able to decide their own comfort level with exposure to whatever they want, you’re probably anti-science or something. Go directly to jail.

He tells old people not to go anywhere, and tells other people that if they do happen to gather with anybody like that, that they should be made to wear a surgical mask, to ensure their protection. Never mind the fact that masks aren’t to protect the person from other people, rather to protect other people from that person, and even vaccinated people with no comorbidities can still get the virus and transmitted to other people; or the fact that Biden’s former coronavirus czar is on record as saying that we’re all going to get this virus. Mask up. And be sure to take off your surgical mask whenever you need to eat or drink, old people, because the more you’re touching your face, and things on and near it, apparently the better for preventing viral transmission? Because that makes sense.

Additionally, if you come from out-of-state to visit family members in California, they say you need to self-quarantine for FOURTEEN DAYS. That means essentially that at the point at which this announcement was made, if you follow these guidelines, you wouldn’t even be able to go to an in-person Thanksgiving gathering. You would have to wait until Saturday, at which point not only Thanksgiving, but Black Friday would have already happened. And that’s if you caught it at the time this was streamed. If you caught it later, you might have to postpone it even further in order to avoid being the scum of the earth who wants Grandma to die.

And even worse, you’re supposed to maintain six feet of distance between yourself and other people IN A HOUSE. Maybe it’s because I grew up poor, in an extremely rural area in California, but I don’t remember there being any hallway in any house I ever celebrated a Thanksgiving in which had enough width to accommodate a 6-ft social distancing measure. Much less, a big enough kitchen, dining area, living room. But I guess that’s not a problem if you’re stuck in the yard, placed out like a Squid Game grid, for your incredibly rigidly controlled gathering which follows all guidance. If you’re inside, too bad. Stop being a mass murderer, contaminant.

They then opened up to reporters, who asked some questions that prove they are heretics and non-believers, and should be purged. One of the most interesting questions in my view came first, from KNX, asking what kind of message it sends that the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, was caught in 4k having a multi-household Halloween celebration not too long ago. It’s a valuable thing to ask as to why the elite so constantly get to break their own rules. It’s sort of like when mayor London Breed of San Francisco lamented the fun police because she went to a club to listen to a performance she liked, and was regularly without her mask. This was after implementing policies that said nobody else could do this. But she either doesn’t recognize the irony of personally being the fun police, while telling everybody else that they belong to a different caste of people who should be fun policed, or she doesn’t care and it’s malicious.

If it’s so okay for the elites to constantly go around without masks, it’s not a problem for the rest of us to do it. We should all be able to attend our normal activities, just like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended the Met Gala. Without a mask.

But really, these restrictions are only for the common person. They’re designed to reinforce the social structures that have already been built by the state. That’s why the person carrying the back of her dress had to wear a mask, but she did not. That’s why when she posed on Instagram for the dress initially, the person who designed it was wearing a mask, and she was not. It’s all about power and control, not about medicine or science.

Mark’s response to this question was to hand wave It away by saying that Gavin already issued a statement, and repeat that the message he wants to send is these words of guidance. You can tell somebody’s lying when they don’t actually get to the point, and aren’t willing to address somebody’s concerns. They do what’s called gish galloping, where they throw a long series of things out there that don’t actually respond to what the person is saying, but are rather meant to distract from the message; to make sure that the person can’t actually get a response. Because they know that if they actually had to respond, it would make them look like hypocrites and liars. And we can’t have that. So even though they opened up questions to reporters, they’re wholly unwilling to listen to those reporters, or be accountable to the press at all. It’s one of the consequences of press conferences held over YouTube, versus meatspace. They can just mute you, and move on, and you can’t repeatedly ask any questions, or press the state at all. Because it’s virtual, it’s easy to treat people like less than humans. Which is also why they want everybody in the metaverse. It’s easier to avoid reality when that’s the par for the course.

He then responds to a question about whether or not it’s going to turn into a lockdown by comparing California to other states. So, let’s do that.

In my piece, Shouting Into The Void, I wrote, “The point is that they’re going to briefly acknowledge the truth, and then do what they were always going to do anyway, because it’s about power.”

With that in mind, look into the case studies of Texas and Florida, neither of which are doing worse than California in terms of COVID numbers, with Florida at one point having a case number at half of what California had. California has a much higher vaccination rate than either state, yet it’s doing worse than both of them. It’s almost like everyone is going to get this virus, and the vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission, so it’s not actually about protecting anyone else to get the vaccine, and anyone claiming it is, is doing nothing but virtue signaling, in an attempt to gain a tiny shred of power over their fellow person at the bottom rungs of society.

It’s nothing more than the kind of social vampirism discussed in Angie Speaks’ Exit the Vampire Castle,” but with a brand new socially accepted victim caste. See, the vaccine isn’t to protect other people. It’s to protect you. And if you don’t feel that the vaccine can protect you more adequately than your immune system can, or you feel as though it’s going to cause more harm than good, it should be up to you to not take it.

Similarly, it should be up to you to decide mask policy in your own home, and decide whether or not you want to socially distance from people in your own life. It should also be up to you whether or not you want contact-free systems to take over everything, with AI and cashless purchases with no privacy replacing workers that are leaving low paying, low incentive work environments with toxic management. But you can’t do that if there are no alternatives, and if all small businesses are cut off. Then, your only options are megacorporations which tow the state line, and force you under the new normal, mandating that you help them build back better. It’s about control, profit, and power.

It’s not about protecting people. That’s why they have all these absurd policies they’re throwing down people’s throats regardless of reason or logic. They want to make sure that the programming sticks during and after thanksgiving, so they’re going to create an environment where your family will force you to do what they say, when they might not be able to on their own. It’s an abominable way to treat people, but the state has always relied on slavery to make its ends, so it should be no surprise that they treat people like cattle to be processed and ordered, and slaughtered at will.

The lesson to be learned from this is to be anything but California with regards to your coronavirus policy. Ideally, swing the opposite way, and come to the side of total freedom under anarchy. But if you must have a state to worship, at least understand that it is not the solution to an epidemic, and that maybe giving yet more power to the very group of people who funded the lab which this likely came from is a mistake, and one which will result in a mass amount more suffering. After being stressed for nearly two years now, about something that was mishandled from the start, intentionally, so the elites could grab more power and profit, the state wants to stress people out even further by taking away yet another holiday meal between family and friends. It’s atrocious and absurd, but it’s par for the course for these blood sucking parasites. Yet they couldn’t be bothered to follow their own policies, constantly being caught in public and in private without masks, and not social distancing, all through the year, and then telling the peasants that if they do the same thing the elites do, suddenly, they’re evil.

Well, if that were the case, it would be yet another instance of the elites condoning public sector evil and condemning private sector evil. And if that’s so, they’re no better than common criminals, and have no business behaving as though they have some sort of moral or logical authority here.

They don’t.

They just have a monopoly on violence, and they’re all too willing to use it in order to live lavish lifestyles at the expense of the poor under the guise of a pandemic. And to think, some people believe the Democrat party is somehow leftist, while they continually do the exact same things Republicans do, but wearing a blue tie this time; that people call these people leftists while they endorse open fascism shows the dearth of real knowledge and wisdom created by the state propaganda machine.

So, it’s your job this Thanksgiving not to buy it, and potentially, should you choose to shoulder the burden of a potentially uncomfortable exchange, educate your family about this real evil, and the fact that they’ve been duped into believing that the common person is evil when, yet again, the worst offenders are public sector.

The government is never here to help. Only to ameliorate suffering just enough that the people don’t revolt. Anything else is window dressing on a slaughterhouse. Happy Thanksgiving!
