Agorism and the end of the world

Agorism and the end of the world

by Lily Forester

What a fucking time to be alive.

As I write this there’s a somewhat violent aggressive protest happening in Washington DC.  Apparently the Make America Great Again Donald Trump Cultists have stormed the capitol and are kicking out the politicians.

I have the luxury of watching this from afar because I live in Mexico.  Even if they enact martial law in the US I won’t deal with it other than seeing my friends who are still stuck there suffering the consequences.

At first glance the anarchist in me is like “YASS QUEEN” to this but I’ve got some bits of this that somewhat nag at me that are worth talking about.  The memes, photos and footage from the live stream have been nothing short of entertaining but as always I’m left with concerns.

First of,  why the fuck are all these white people allowed to storm a security protected government building in the belly of the beast that is the Capitol?  My gut feeling tells me what many are saying, this is a planned event of controlled opposition.  The end goal? Martial law.  I hope not but sure as hell seems headed that way.

Why would they let this happen? To further discredit those who speak against the system.  If we’re all seen as a bunch of aggressive violent degenerates, the effect we will have on the world as a whole will be a lot less big.  Or that’s what they are hoping for.

The other point is distraction.  There’s a lot of things going on in the news right now, so what better time for a planned coup?  With Assange’s extradition being denied by the UK (WOOHOO FOR THAT) , the recent mooning of cryptocurrency and the other good news that’s come with the turn from 2020 to 2021, somethings gotta reinstill that fear agenda.

At the very least as far as I’m concerned, this is not the right way to get things done.  It’s amusing and it’s flashy but the real effect is going to actually be a decrease of freedom, not an increase of it.  They’d have been better off to ignore that system and build their own.

Which brings me to my next point, even if this thing is totally organically formed from the grassroots, what is the actual goal of this other than to prove a flashy point?  They’ve already enacted 6pm curfew in DC, how long before that gets worse?  What if those people put the effort they’re putting into this but theatrical show into actually building the world they want to replace the government with?

I’ve long since thought it’s not valuable to go looking for a fight as far as the government is concerned.  Self defense is one thing but going to the house of the government to take it over in a show of force is doing no different from the powers that are oppressing you in the first place.

Even if this somehow turns into a full scale coup and Trump becomes grand dictator of the United States as a result, I can’t say this revolution was for change.  In fact it was just that, a revolution of a clock that’s been going over and over again for far too long.

So for those seeing these people rising up, feeling inspired but undirected I invite you to put your efforts to productive use.  Look into agorism, counter economy and other ways to subvert the state without fighting it actively.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned watching the last year from my cushy little house in Mexico it’s that I’m glad I’ve pursued agorism with the ferocity that I did before the world fell apart.  When I found agorism I thought the world was falling apart as I was watching Ron Paul be totally shoved out of the race in 2012.  I jumped in with both feet then and while I struggled for some time I have no regrets.

Why? Cause I’d already expatriated as a crypto obsessed agorist before Trump ever entered office.  I worked for years dabbling in several agorist ways to support myself before settling on this ADHD fueled side gig obsessed hybrid lifestyle I’ve got going on.  So when the world had to change, I already did before it.  So life was easy.

Sure, I had to get creative with the income streams but as I’ve learned these years pursuing agorism by monetizing my skills, there will always be ways to make money for those willing to put in the work.

As a result even with this worldwide oppression everyone seems to be experiencing, I’ve felt largely unoppressed this year.  I’ve not been dependant on stimulus checks, or one source of income for that matter.  Being in a less oppressive society that is Mexico in general, I haven’t felt quite the same level of oppression that most have in these Covid times.

In fact I’ve only been mask shamed once, by police on a segway in Metepec, a notoriously statist and gringo town in the State of Mexico.  He yelled at me and rolled after me and I turned and yelled “back the fuck off bro” and he did.  Where I live, there was about 2 weeks of very loose mask restrictions and now for the most part the populace is mask free.

All of this because I chose to think outside the box at 18 and dive into agorism instead of continuing the typical collegiate path I was on with all of my peers.

So I say again, what a time to be alive.  In this crazy world, I feel eternally grateful to have found agorism as my life solution that works regardless of if the government continues or not.

I have one final message, to my friends in the US.  If you’ve considered getting out and can even make 500 USD a month online working or through other means, GET OUT before you can’t.  Life is much sweeter south of the border or virtually anywhere else these days as we all know life isn’t going back to normal.
